Our client is a private equity-owned software development firm headquartered in Dallas, TX, specializing in delivering innovative solutions to a diverse clientele. With $15 million in EBITDA and $60 million in shared investments, the company is in a high-growth phase, requiring a seasoned financial leader to oversee strategic financial planning and operations. The organization seeks a CFO with expertise in scaling businesses, driving profitability, and navigating future growth opportunities through M&A, partnerships, or other strategic exits.


Role Overview:

As the Chief Financial Officer, you will serve as the financial steward and strategic partner to the executive team and private equity stakeholders. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee all financial operations and play a critical role in shaping the company’s future. You will balance the responsibilities of Strategist, Catalyst, Steward, and Operator to ensure financial health and drive the organization’s growth trajectory.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategist

  • Collaborate with the executive team and private equity stakeholders to define and execute strategic financial goals.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company’s growth objectives, including potential exits, M&A opportunities, and market expansion.
  • Assess financial risks and opportunities and provide data-driven recommendations for strategic decision-making.

Catalyst

  • Champion profitability initiatives by leveraging financial metrics to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • Partner with operational and sales teams to improve financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Drive innovative financing solutions to support growth, including leveraging shared investments and capital allocation strategies.

Steward

  • Oversee financial planning, analysis, and reporting processes to ensure timely and accurate delivery of financial data.
  • Establish and maintain robust internal controls, compliance, and risk management frameworks.
  • Act as a key liaison between private equity investors, the board of directors, and the executive team, ensuring transparency and alignment.

Operator

  • Manage all aspects of financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Build and lead a high-performing finance team capable of supporting the organization’s growth.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, tax, and financial reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; CPA or MBA is highly preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably within private equity-owned or software development firms.
    • Proven track record of driving EBITDA growth and managing $15M+ EBITDA businesses.
    • Experience with mergers and acquisitions (M&A), integrations, or exit strategies.
    • Deep understanding of financial metrics and their impact on revenue, profitability, and cash flow.
  • Skills:
    • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to financial operations.
    • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.
    • Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making.
