Title: Vice President, Marketing and Communications Financial Services
Location: on-site, Detroit, Michigan
Our client is seeking to hire its first VP Marketing & Communications to help accelerate growth. This role will report to the COO and be responsible for increasing awareness in our financial services target markets, driving new client acquisition and expansion, attracting candidates, and assisting with acquisitions and integrations. You will manage all aspects of the marketing program including online, offline, branding, communications, CRM and public relations and lead our experiments into new frontiers.
Responsibilities
- Team Management & Development. You’ll inherit a distributed team of nearly 20 marketers located across our four core US regions as well as select agency partners. You will help refine our org structure and establish national processes with regional executions to take our performance to the next level. You’ll also help recruit talent and build your team as we grow.
- Brand Management & Awareness. Help position our client as the partner of choice for our clients and the employer of choice for candidates across the country. You’ll study the competitive landscape, refine our communications and content strategy and amplify our strong reputation.
- Client Acquisition & Expansion. Optimize our existing tactics (e.g., events, content, PR, sponsorships, digital), and strategize, launch and iterate on new initiatives to generate new client and cross-sell opportunities. You’ll be instrumental in helping reach our target customers across mediums and devise the optimal support structure for regional and community efforts.
- Budgeting, Planning & Prioritization. With so many potential things to do and requests for support across the organization, you’ll need to be able to assess potential ROI, support budget requests, and allocate resources to the highest value activities. You’ll help bring light to the impact of your team’s work and own the reporting and analysis of all marketing initiatives.
- Acquisitions & Integrations. You’ll assist in the building of a more robust acquisition engine and support the integration of new businesses as they join the platform, creating repeatable processes.
Qualifications
- Proven Results. We think experience is best measured in results and intensity, but you need to have been in the financial industry or marketing to financial professionals for a while—we’re thinking 15+ years. You also need to have meaningful experience managing a multi-million dollar budget and distributed team of at least 10+ people.
- Brand & Communications Strategist. We have dozens of services and thousands of clients across industries. You know how to ensure brand consistency and positioning while also appealing to multiple audiences, including potential clients, customers, candidates and existing employees.
- Central & Regional Execution Experience. With nearly 40 offices across the country and more on the horizon, many of our marketing efforts are regional or local in nature. You’ve operated in a role before with a central marketing team that has established templates, processes and shared capabilities to make the most of centralized specialization with regional support.
- Strategic Thinker & Collaborator. You are business-focused and strategic in every marketing initiative. You know how to pilot programs and capabilities that support corporate priorities and then scale them once proven. You’re able to succinctly tie marketing strategy to overall organizational strategy and can communicate your insights clearly and rally support across teams.
- Passionate Leader. Leadership is a calling for you and you know how to inspire employees of all types. You possess empathy for each of your team members, but hold them, and yourself, to the highest standards.
