Director, Strategic Content Marketing (on-site, Boston, MA)

  • Full Time
  • Boston

Our client — a highly progressive global management consulting firm — is seeking a Director, Strategic Content Marketing: a senior, individual-contributor role at the center of the firm’s content strategy and embedded within brand strategy. This newly elevated, cross-functional position is launching as the firm sharpens its marketing strategy, strengthens its brand, and amplifies the story of the organizations and teams it partners with.

Reporting to the firm’s Chief Marketing Officer, the Director, Strategic Content Marketing will own and elevate the firm’s content infrastructure and internal enablement engine — the centralized repository, calendar, distribution systems, and AI-enabled workflows that arm consulting teams, executives, and the firm’s global network with the right materials, at the right time, for the right audience.

This is a full-time, in-office role, five days a week, based in the client’s Boston office — a hands-on, executive-level seat on a small, high-output marketing team that supports Consultants and Revenue Generation Leaders globally.

What You’ll Do

As a key member of the small marketing team, and a strategic partner to the firm’s Consulting and Client Engagement teams — the lifeblood of the firm — you will own and elevate the systems, content and content strategy that power the firm’s brand visibility, thought leadership, internal enablement and client engagement:

  1. Own and optimize how content represents the executive team, exercising sound judgment on tone, framing and positioning so that Partners and senior leaders across the firm’s consulting practice are positioned correctly, consistently and credibly in every piece of content that carries their name.
  2. Understand — and act on — the direct line between strong content strategy and revenue generation, ensuring materials built for clients, prospective clients and engagement stakeholders are designed not just to inform but to help secure new business and deepen existing relationships.
  3. Drive brand visibility through thoughtful content strategy and distribution across channels, including the website, social, email and industry recognition submissions for the firm and its consulting leaders.
  4. Lead the firm’s use of AI-enabled tools, templates and workflows across the content lifecycle. The client’s marketing team lives in AI tools, and this role will consistently evaluate better tools to create operational efficiencies — bringing fluency, curiosity and a builder’s mindset to weaving AI into the team’s content strategy, and helping build a more efficient, scalable marketing operation while upholding brand quality and information accuracy.
  5. Partner directly with Consulting and Client Engagement teams to deliver polished, pitch-ready internal enablement materials — presentation collateral, case studies and other materials that reflect the brand, reinforce the firm’s sector expertise, and advance each engagement team’s strategy in real time.
  6. Champion ideation and sit at the forefront of content advancements, continually scouting new formats, storytelling approaches and content strategy trends relevant to global management consulting and professional services.
  7. Set and run the firmwide content calendar and content strategy, coordinating priorities across Marketing, Client Relations, Practice Enhancement and Consulting teams, so that key moments and milestones are never missed and every piece of content maps back to a clear strategy.
  8. Own and continually enhance the centralized content repository — a single home for collateral spanning the firm’s clients, executives and consulting team members — facilitating access and information sharing across the organization.

What You’re Like

You are a strategic content marketing leader who thinks in systems as much as stories — someone who can set content strategy and roll up your sleeves to get the details right. You bring sound judgment, a bias for action and the credibility to collaborate directly with Partners, consulting teams and client executives, and you understand instinctively how the content you shape reflects on — and protects — the executive team’s reputation in the market.

You are polished and corporate in your command of the details, yet you bring a cutting-edge, forward-leaning energy to how you think about content, tools and strategy — the kind of energy that resonates with candidates coming out of high-growth firms, where adaptability, creativity and strategy all converge toward a single goal: measurable impact.

You are energized by the fast-moving, high-stakes nature of a global consulting practice, and you know how to bring structure, consistency and polish to a high-output marketing function without slowing it down. You are excited by what AI and modern marketing technology make possible, and you actively look for opportunities to use AI-driven tools and processes to scale content strategy, ideation and brand impact. You bring hands-on, daily experience putting these tools to work, not just familiarity with the concept.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • 8+ years of marketing, communications or product marketing experience, including experience managing content operations, editorial calendars, content strategy, product marketing or internal enablement programs; prior experience in or familiarity with professional services, financial services or global management consulting strongly preferred.
  • Excellent judgment and executive presence; a proven ability to work directly with senior leaders and Consulting and Client Engagement teams, exercising tact, diplomacy and discretion — and an acute sensitivity to how content decisions affect the positioning of executives across the global consulting space.
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience and detail orientation, with a track record of working across teams and managing workflows, timelines and external vendors against a clear strategy.
  • Strong command of content strategy, distribution and measurement, including fluency with AEO/SEO practices and familiarity with Google Analytics, Webflow and social/content distribution tools.
  • Daily, hands-on fluency with AI-driven tools and workflows — particularly Claude — for content ideation, drafting, editing, research and internal enablement; a track record of measurable efficiency gains from putting AI to work inside a broader content strategy, not just around its edges.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for evaluating and adopting new marketing technology; you see AI as a lever for scaling brand, content and revenue-generation strategy, and you stay current on emerging tools and use cases.
  • A demonstrated eye for ideation — the ability to originate fresh content strategy and formats, not just execute against a brief.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the polish expected of content that will carry a Partner’s or executive’s name.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.

What does a Director, Strategic Content Marketing actually do at a global consulting firm? You’d own the systems and strategy behind everything the firm publishes — from executive thought leadership to pitch-ready materials for client engagement teams — reporting directly to the CMO. It’s part content strategist, part internal enablement engine, part AI workflow owner.

Who is hiring for this role? MarketSearch Executive Search is running this search on a confidential basis for a global management consulting firm client based in Boston. We don’t name the client publicly at this stage — that’s standard for a retained search at this level — but candidates who move forward get the full picture early in the process.

Is this role remote or hybrid? Neither — it’s in-office, five days a week, at the client’s Boston office. This one’s intentionally hands-on: the person in this seat needs to be embedded with the marketing team and available to Partners and consulting leaders in real time.

Do I need an MBA to be considered? An MBA is preferred, not required. What matters more is 8+ years in content marketing, communications or product marketing — ideally with time in professional services, financial services or consulting — plus daily, hands-on experience running AI tools like Claude inside a real content operation.

I’m a CEO or hiring manager, not a candidate — why does this posting matter to me? Because it’s a preview of how MarketSearch runs a retained search for marketing leadership. If you’re building or replacing a marketing function and want a search partner who understands both the content side and the executive-presence side of the hire, this is the kind of role we specialize in filling.

How do I apply or start a conversation? Reach out to MarketSearch Executive Search directly — candidates and hiring managers both. Searches like this move on a confidential, relationship-driven basis, not through a public application portal.
