MarketSearch Executive Search
Vice President, SMB Marketing
We’re looking for a highly experienced SMB marketing leader who knows how to turn a large partnership opportunity into measurable membership growth, customer engagement and annual retention.
This is a hands-on senior leadership role for someone who can unify the brand, build trust with SMB audiences and create a full-funnel marketing engine—from initial awareness and conversion through engagement, value realization and renewal.
More than 130,000 small and midsize businesses are expected to be onboarded through Amazon Business in 2026. The platform currently has approximately 10,000 members paying $200 annually, with a clear opportunity to scale nationally.
The foundation is there. Now the business needs the right marketing leader to connect every part of the customer experience and turn that potential into growth.
The Opportunity
The Vice President of SMB Marketing will own the strategy and execution required to attract, convert, engage and retain SMB members.
This person will bring the website, marketplace, partner outreach, field marketing and lifecycle communications under one clear and consistent brand message. Just as importantly, they will listen closely to the larger field-marketing partnership, understand what SMB customers actually need and translate those insights into programs that create real membership value.
This is not a strategy-only position. We need someone who can build the plan, execute it, measure what is working and continually optimize performance.
What You’ll Own
- Build and lead a true full-funnel SMB marketing strategy spanning awareness, acquisition, conversion, onboarding, engagement and renewal.
- Create clear, consistent brand messaging across the website, marketplace, partner outreach and field-marketing channels.
- Develop geo-targeted marketing programs that reach the right SMB audiences with locally relevant messaging and offers.
- Build an active SMB community that increases trust, participation, loyalty and long-term membership value.
- Design customer journeys that keep members engaged well beyond signup.
- Educate members on available benefits, offer redemption and the full value of their annual membership.
- Create renewal programs and incentives that improve annual retention and customer lifetime value.
- Connect field and digital marketing so each channel supports one larger growth strategy.
- Work closely with major consumer-brand partners and their field-marketing teams to identify opportunities, gather customer feedback and improve program performance.
- Manage partner-funded marketing budgets with clear accountability for conversion, engagement, retention and revenue.
- Establish the reporting, testing and optimization discipline needed to continuously improve results.
What Success Looks Like
Success will be measured by more than member acquisition. The right leader will improve the entire SMB customer journey, including:
- Membership conversion
- Customer acquisition efficiency
- Onboarding and activation
- Offer awareness and redemption
- Member engagement
- Annual renewal and retention
- Customer lifetime value
- Partner marketing performance
- Revenue contribution
The Experience We Need
Candidates must have directly relevant, proven experience marketing to SMB audiences at scale.
You should have a strong record of building and executing full-funnel marketing programs that produced measurable gains in acquisition, conversion, engagement, revenue and retention for recognized companies.
You must also understand how to support large partnership programs involving major consumer brands, distributed field-marketing teams and shared marketing budgets.
This is not a crossover opportunity. We are looking for an established SMB marketer who has already faced similar challenges, owned similar goals and delivered against them.
Experience with SMB-focused subscription or membership businesses is a strong plus.
The Right Marketing Leader
The right person will be equal parts strategist, operator and listener. You know how to build a strong plan, but you are just as comfortable getting close to the work, the customer and the numbers.
You understand that SMB trust is earned. You know how to communicate value clearly, build a sense of community and give members meaningful reasons to stay engaged and renew each year.
Compensation
Target base salary is $225,000, plus performance-based incentives.
Call to Action
If you have built and scaled SMB marketing programs, supported major brand partnerships and delivered measurable improvements across acquisition, engagement and annual retention, we want to hear from you.
For hiring managers, CEOs and growth-stage companies looking for this level of proven marketing leadership, MarketSearch is here when you’re ready to roll.
