Confidential Search: Head of Brand Performance
Oct 21, 2026 · @David Honig
We’re searching for a Head of Brand Performance for a founder-led consumer products company. It’s a confidential retained search, so I can’t share the name here. I’m happy to share it on a first call.
The company owns a family of everyday consumer brands across home, pet supplies, wellness and similar categories. Most of its sales come through Amazon and Walmart, and it’s now moving into physical retail.
Here’s the opportunity. A lot of shoppers buy these products without knowing which brand they bought. Your job is to change that.
The Role at a Glance
| Title | Head of Brand Performance |
| Reports to | CEO |
| Location | On-site in Southern Connecticut. Not hybrid. No exceptions. |
| Categories | Home, pet supplies, wellness and similar consumer products |
| Channels | Amazon, Walmart, and physical retail |
| Must have | Brand leadership at a company under 200 employees |
| Search type | Confidential, retained |
What You’ll Own
- Brand strategy and positioning across a portfolio of consumer brands
- Brand and brand performance campaigns that build awareness and drive sales
- Brand marketing on Amazon and Walmart: storefronts, listing creative, enhanced content, sponsored brand and display ads, and reviews
- Retail media and marketplace data, tied back to branded search, repeat purchase and category share
- One consistent brand story as the products move onto store shelves
- Creative across photo, video, social and influencer
- The budget, the KPIs, and a lean team plus any agency partners
You’ll report straight to the founders. Decisions move fast here.
Who We’re Looking For
- You’ve led brand and brand performance at companies with fewer than 200 employees
- You’ve helped smaller consumer brands break through the clutter in crowded categories
- You’ve run campaigns across a suite of B2C products, ideally home, pet supplies, wellness or similar
- You have hands-on Amazon and Walmart experience. This one’s a must.
- You can tie your brand work to sales
- You’re on-site in Southern Connecticut. Not hybrid. No exceptions.
If most of your background is big brands with big budgets, this probably isn’t the fit. The client wants someone who’s built a brand from a smaller base, with lean resources, and loved doing it.
Nice to have: experience taking a marketplace brand into brick-and-mortar retail, and time at a founder-led or investor-backed consumer company.
Why This One’s Worth a Look
The products already sell. That’s the hard part, and it’s done. What’s missing is the brand, and that’s a rare thing to walk into.
You’ll have a seat with the founders, a real budget to put to work, and a clear problem to solve. The move into physical retail makes the timing even better. Brand matters more on a store shelf than it does in a search result.
If you’ve been the person who made a small brand stand out, this is a chance to do it at scale.
